Computer Jobs - How Do I Get My First Computer Job? Article

***************************

If you've done any searching on any of the computer job boards such as dice or computerjobs.com you might be wondering how do I get my first job. Most jobs, even the entry-level positions require two years of experience.
So, how do you get your first job?

Well, the easiest way is to actually move into an entry level position in a company you already work for. Often times if you can make an internal move within a company they are more forgiving of any lack of experience. They will take into evaluation how you are as an employee and try to project that into what you're likely to be like in a computer job.

However, if you can't find work within your own company you're forced to be more creative. Are there any non-profits or organizations that you can work with to get some experience? For example, perhaps you could put together the website for your church? Or install some computers for your neighborhood YMCA.

Usually within your circle of friends and contacts there are at least a few people who could use your skills. Perhaps you ask your parents or any friends you have for leads of any companies that they can get you in contact with the owners.

If however you're not able to get any relevant experience, then you might want to look at getting some certifications. For example if you want to get into the hardware side of the business, in just a few short months you should be able to get your A+ certification.

If you're looking for a programming position, you can start off by building example websites, and web applications. With Microsoft Studio 2005 Express, you can build robust web applications that you can demonstrate for any prospective employers.

And finally you'll probably have to depend on your interview skills to secure you a position. Maybe the recruiters first instinct is not to give you a shot, but if you're able to convince them that you are a bright, self-motivated, quick learner you'll have a much better chance of getting a job than some of your competition.

The field is still wide open, and there is plenty of opportunity for all. If you just apply yourself many recruiters will be willing to look past the weak resume to see your potential, after all even Bill Gates started somewhere.

The Need For Computer Literacy Skills Article

The Need for Computer Literacy Skills Among the Teens

Author: Sushil Kumar Singh Raghav

The teens want computer literacy skills in order to become competitive in their upcoming careers and give them ease in their day-to-day activities. Computers become indispensable tools to the teenagers, from making their assignments, writing research papers, helping in their studies, learning new information to making new friends from around the globe.

The different computer skills that teens want include the need of word processing programs to make various types of invitations, make reports, format documents and write resumes. Even at their young age, they have to gain insights and abilities on the complexities of life, especially in finding a lucrative job. In this way, they are much prepared when they finished their studies and start their own career.

Attractive and eye bulging reports are created using presentation software such as Microsoft Power Point. These teens know that an ability to properly present their propositions would spell a difference between winning and losing. In classes involving mathematical problems, the teenagers must learn spreadsheets, data entry and related subjects.

The latest trend among the teenagers is the use of the internet. Hundreds of tools are available to teenagers to allow them unlimited use of their creativity. Through the computers, the teens learn to surf to their favorite websites, make the required reports at a shorter period, learn and explore new trends and developments with ease. Among the teens’ favorites are chat rooms, games, blogs and other interactive sites. Free downloads are also available such as music, software, skills training and others. Through the internet, the teenagers are freed from spending so much money in purchasing their favorite music and movies, as well as in gaining knowledge in tradecraft and other profitable skills.

Computer literacy skills are very much needed in properly navigating the internet to browse the sites that they need. Lack of the necessary skills and know how would make the teenagers land on sites that are not suited and deplorable. By chance, they will be able to view pornographic videos and violence. If bad persons roam the streets, they also haunt unsuspecting victims in the internet.

The good news is that thousands of jobs could be accessed through the internet. These jobs include data entry, web and logo design, computer programming and so on. Landing on high paying jobs require the needed knowledge and skills in computers and computer applications. Of course, this knowledge could be acquired through formal education, but to the freelancers, learning through the internet is profitable and worthwhile.

One word of caution, having learned some computer literacy skills could make a teenager a useful citizen by applying what he knows for his personal and career growth within the bounds of the law. But it could also be used to advance personal interests out of greed such as creating viruses and programs contrary to law. The latter must be avoided. The teens want not only these computer literacy skills to prepare them for a bright future, they also need the encouragement and motivation coming from people they trust.

Videos have the advantage over written text that a number of concepts will be just much easier to get across with Video tutorials than with writing them down alone. Videos tend to possess a certain "je ne seis quoi" mandated to bridge the gap between the user and material to be understood, and they do it hurriedly and with much effectiveness.

Written tutorials are still the norm lately; and while these are superb ones, by and large, they are not the way of the future. Have you ever come across a piece information that you had a diffcult time wrapping your mind around, that would have made a lot more sense if you saw it in a Online video tutorial? A good case of these how-to Videos is the Professor eBay tutorials.

The same way radio was not at all completely dropped over tv, text-based tutorials will most likely never be displaced completely by Video tutorials. Text-based tutorials will at all times do better as a source of reference; therefore this might serve as cause for their longevity. Video tutorials are a fantastic way to get someone up to speed, so to speak, but they will still need the text or a transcription to use as a reference. More and more today, and definitely in the future, we will see the simultaneous use of Video and text in software tutorials. xx1975yy
